I start this new blog feeling cautiously optimistic. For years Shias have been targeted, attacked and marginalised across the Muslim world and continue to do so today. In this holy month of Muharrum which saw the grandson of the Holy Prophet - Imam Hussain (a.s.), brutally massacred along with his family and friends by the army of the tyrant Yazid ibn Muawiya over 1300 years ago, Shias lead the way in commemorating his great sacrifice which saved the religion of Islam - not just Shia Islam, but all of Islam.
However, today we find more and more Shias are getting victimised and criticised for remembering such a sacrifice, for following such people. We are honoured and privileged to follow the household of the Holy Prophet - the Ahlul Bayt and this blog is here to discuss the issues about the Shias, to dispel some of the myths and lies that tend to proliferate, especially across the internet.
Most of the problems are due to a simple ignorance of the truth. Rumours, lies and just sheer incompetence has led to Shias being condemned, often by people who just follow the crowd and don't stop to look at the facts. I hope to blog about who the Shia really are and what we believe. Hopefully people will be enlightened and realise we are not the horrible sect that some would have you believe.
Of course, I'm not naive enough to think that a simple blog will cure all the issues, but inshallah it will play a small role to promote the accurate values of the Shia and Muslims in general. People who are open-minded and up for a discussion and debate are most welcome to comment, but those who simply want to criticise and refuse to open their hearts should save their energy for elsewhere.
I hope to update this blog regularly and will discuss a wide range of issues about Shias and Islam in general. Inshallah it will provide some interest to you all!
Take care all.
Salamun alaykum warahmatullaah,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. Without a doubt, we are the most misunderstood sect within Islam and it doesn't help much that our own Muslim brethren instigate these misconceptions and pass them along as if they are true.
By Allah, if anyone bothered to research they could not deny the Truth in Shi'a Islam.
I think the hardest part about this blog is going to be updating continuously, especially since there aren't many followers just yet. (I feel the same way since I'm working on my misconceptions' blogs). May Allah grant you the strength and knowledge to make this blog a good representation for the School of Ahlul Bayt (as). Ameen!!
I agree with Oasis completely. Reminds me of the Quran, "Surely there is truth" for those who see
ReplyDeleteMashallah a move worthy of praise! There is a need for such posts and blogs seeing the ridiculous amounts of bomb blasts targeting the Shiite day in and day out it has become so common now sadly.
ReplyDeleteMay Allah grant us success Ameen.
